Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is a framework that can help schools create a welcoming and supportive environment for students. The PBL framework focuses on positive reinforcement, teaching students pro-social skills, and using data to make informed decisions. By using this approach, students can develop the skills they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

The PBL framework has several key elements, including setting clear expectations for student behavior, teaching pro-social skills, and rewarding desired behavior. By incorporating these elements, schools can create a culture of positivity and respect that can help students thrive. Additionally, using data to inform decision-making can help teachers identify areas where students may need additional support and adjust their teaching strategies accordingly.

Today, technology plays a valuable role in supporting school PBL. Platforms like Life Skills GO offer interactive modules on a range of social and emotional learning topics, such as communication, self-awareness, empathy, and conflict resolution. By engaging in these modules, students can develop essential skills that are crucial for working effectively with others, managing their emotions, and making responsible decisions.

In addition, Life Skills GO provides teachers with valuable data on student progress and engagement. This data can help teachers identify areas where students may need additional support and adjust their teaching strategies accordingly. By incorporating technology like Life Skills GO into their PBL, teachers can help students develop the skills they need to succeed while also creating a positive and welcoming learning environment, while providing the context for the responses the students are providing.

Here are a few key bullet points on how Life Skills GO directly supports the success of the Positive Behaviour for Learning framework:

  • Life Skills GO provides interactive modules on a range of social and emotional learning topics, such as communication, self-awareness, empathy, and conflict resolution.
  • By engaging in these modules, students can develop essential skills that are crucial for working effectively with others, managing their emotions, and making responsible decisions.
  • Life Skills GO also provides teachers and executives with valuable contextualised data on student, class, cohort or whole school emotional states, their progress and engagement levels in real-time and longitudinally.
  • This data can help teachers identify areas where students may need additional support and adjust their teaching strategies accordingly.
  • By incorporating technology like Life Skills GO into the PBL framework, teachers can provide students with essential social and emotional learning opportunities while also receiving valuable data to inform their teaching strategies.

Holistically, with our traditional PBL lessons, we haven't been able to measure if students understand the core concepts of the lessons. GO has been wonderful in this area as it breaks the class summary down.

There's a lot of content, such as videos and quizzes. 70% of students loved them straight away, and buy-in has increased since. The reporting is broken down into questions, responses and concepts (have they grasped them?). It even marks tests for you!

In conclusion, the PBL framework is an effective approach for creating a positive and supportive learning environment for students. By incorporating the key elements of the PBL framework, schools can create a culture of positivity and respect that can help students thrive. Additionally, by using technology like Life Skills GO, teachers can provide students with essential social and emotional learning opportunities while also receiving valuable data to inform their teaching strategies. Ultimately, by working together, we can help all students achieve success both in and out of the classroom.
