ABOUT THE EVENT

Practical Strategies for Emotional Literacy, Student Voice & Whole-School Wellbeing

This evidence-informed webinar, led by Professor Mark Williams and Nikki Bonus, is designed specifically for primary school educators, wellbeing leads, and school leadership. You’ll walk away with practical strategies to better support your students’ emotional development and wellbeing, boosting learning outcomes for the whole school.

This webinar will focus on guiding how to elevate student voice, build emotional awareness, and embed self-regulation into everyday learning experiences.

Supporting Student Wellbeing Through Emotional Literacy & Self-Regulation

Student wellbeing isn’t a one-off lesson, it must be embedded in daily routines. This webinar will show you how understanding emotional development can help:

1. Gain deeper insight into how emotional states influence attention, memory and classroom behaviour

2. Learn to identify emotional triggers that affect learning and how to respond effectively

3. Improve readiness to learn, reduce classroom disruption, and support long-term academic outcomes

With Life Skills GO, students receive guided, consistent emotional learning experiences that evolve with them over time, helping students manage stress, build positive relationships, and grow in confidence.

Elevating Student Voice Through Daily Check-Ins

At the heart of National Check-In Week is the commitment to ensuring every student is seen, heard, and responded to and that no child falls through the gaps. When students are taught emotional literacy and given a safe space to express how they feel and what is happening to them, and they are seen for more than their behavior or academics, they not only start to feel safe and secure, but they also start to learn how to self-regulate.

In this session, we’ll explore:

1. How emotional brain development impacts primary-aged students (5–12)

2. The role emotions play in attention, memory, behaviour, and motivation

3. How to embed emotional literacy and regulation using tools like Life Skills GO

4. The importance of teaching emotional literacy in the classroom and how it can cognitively change your students' self-regulation practices
